The Safer Ryedale Road Safety Partnership is planning to run several Young Driver initiatives across the Ryedale District.
The initiatives are aimed at all young drivers and young people considering driving in the future and are designed to raise awareness of responsible driving and the dangers posed to the younger and more inexperienced drivers, along with providing information to passengers travelling in vehicles driven by young/inexperienced drivers. The evenings will also cover street legal cars, where friendly advice will be given by local Police Officers on alterations to and the customisation of cars. There will be a simulated car crash showing Firefighters in action cutting up a car to release a trapped driver and a hard hitting presentation covering the tragic loss of a young life.
The events will be attended by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, North Yorkshire Police and "95 Alive" Road Safety Officers.
The events are planned at the following venues:-
Malton Fire Station - Tuesday 17th August, 6.30pm
Pickering Fire Station - Wednesday 15th September, 6.30pm
Helmsley Fire Station - Tuesday 3rd August, 6.30pm
Kirkbymoorside Fire Station - Monday 9th August, 7.00pm
The events will run for approximately two hours, refreshments and freebies will be available.
Ryedale Road Safety Partnership would like to invite all young drivers and potential drivers to these events; however, parents are also welcome to attend if they wish to. Please take this opportunity to come to one of the events and chat to the Road Safety Group members, it will be informative and although hard hitting it will be fun.
