Ryedale has one of the lowest crime rates in the country and much work is ongoing to maintain this level and to try and gain improvements.
Safer Ryedale have introduced a range of projects and initiatives to address crime and concerns from the community such as speeding vehicles and inappropriate driver behaviour with Operation Siren to target low level infringements, deploying mobile speed awareness signs.
The overall aim is to make Ryedale feel like a safer place. Safer Ryedale is a statutory body made up of a number of partner agencies, with the duty placed on them to work together to reduce crime and disorder and associated issues. The statutory partners are as follows: Ryedale District Council North Yorkshire County Council North Yorkshire Police North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service North Yorkshire Police Authority York and North Yorkshire Primary Care Trust
